This beautiful bow brooch is yet another Braganza mystery, lets see what the following years bring. I do hope to see Dona Isabel wearing it again, it's such a beautiful brooch!
As I said, this is not the first jewel shared by Dona Isabel and her mother, there is another set (not so imposing) I know both of them wore. I can tell you that I've seen the Duchess in person wearing this set, several years ago . But the question remains on who owned it and who borrowed it. It has not yet been discussed here, and I will post it in an appropriate thread.
I don't know the amount of jewelry that the Herédia family has, but I remember Dona Raquel wore a nice set of rubi and Diamond jewels at her daughter's wedding (earrings and a flower brooch).
And there is yet another jewel worn by Dona Isabel that is an heirloom from her side of the family. Again, It has not been discussed yet, I will post it when we get to that thread .
Infanta Maria Adelaide's bow brooch looks smaller than Dona Isabel's brooch. I know nothing on the late Infanta's bow brooch... Could it be an heirloom from her mother? Several options for an heirloom, Liechstenstein, Lowestein-Wertheim-Rosenberg or even Kinsky of Wchinitz and Tettau...
--Previous Message-- : Cristina, you don't have an archive: you have : a gold-mine. : I do not know what to think about this bow : brooch: : : 1. Sure that D.Isabel family is a noble one : but the Royal vaults probably have much more : jewels than her family vaults. Why would the : Duchess wear a Heredia jewel with so many : Braganza jewels to explore in 1998 (only 3 : years of marriage)? May that brooch be an : Heredia heirloom with special meaning? : : 2. May this brooch be a wedding present (so, : personally owned by D.Isabel) that the : Duchess loaned to her mother? : : 3. May this be a Braganza heirloom that was : loaned to D.Raquel? It seems similar to the : brooch used by D.Maria Adelaide in her 100th : birthday. If so, it is owned by the Duke, : not the Duchess, so he would have to agree : on the loan. : : Whatever the option is true I hope the : brooch becomes part of the main line of the : Royal Family because it is a beautiful : piece. :
