"To judge by the State Portrait, and corroborated by photographs of the Coronation ceremony, her two four-row brilliant bracelets had once belonged to Queen Victoria, who after marriage had added a clasp with Prince Albert's miniature to one of them and wore it continuously. In 1911 Queen Mary replaced the existing clasps with two of Garter form bearing the diamond cyphers of William IV and Queen Adelaide on a blue enamel ground with a brilliant surround. She wore the bracelets in this state at her coronation in 1911, passing them to Queen Elizabeth in 1937, who used them with the same clasps [unaltered]."
