I've always wondered about the Hanoverian claim. My thought was that, unless they could prove that the jewels or loose stones were purchased in Hanover before the ascension of George I to the english throne then there was a "fair to middling" chance that they had been funded from the English treasury and by rights belonged to the English crown. As someone here has already said, a lot of it was the machinations of a lot of adults against a mere child Queen. --Previous Message-- : Yes, that's a lace or possibly silver : stomacher, traditional from Tudor times when : they were fabric or metal. I've concluded : that Queen Charlotte's three part diamond : stomacher is the large brooch/pendant that : we see in many of her portraits. She even : wore it in her hair in one picture. :
