Elsewhere, there is a debate raging about the Crown rubies. A very knowledgeable person has stated, categorically, that the necklace as worn by the Queen was ordered from Garrard's in 1854 and has always been rubies. The one that had the opals replaced, he states, was a different one and was broken up by Queen Mary in 1926. I have no pretensions to expertise, but this flies in the face of any and all information I have ever come across. Perhaps someone could comment on this apparent discrepancy? If so, it would be particularly welcome, especially if there is some source information.
