Thank you Lorenzo and Stuart, I agree with your observation Stuart that the tiara bears some similarity to the one worn by Princess Christian (Princess Helena); yet, they are different, although that may be due to artistic licence. Nevertheless, I suspect the necklace worn by Queen Victoria (in the link I posted) is not made with turquoises because of the irregular nature of the stones. In the nineteenth century high quality turquoise jewellery normally had stones of regular shapes, but there were always exceptions to the norm. Stuart, I noticed from the thread you gave a link to that you have, or had, access to Queen Victoria's diaries. Would it be possible for you to check to see what QV said she gave to Princess Beatrice for her wedding. With such knowledge we might start to be able to rule out some items, even though I realise it is possible that QV may have had a necklace which has nothing to do with the necklace many of us presume was initially set with opals and later worn as a ruby necklace by QEQM.
