America and much of Asia have seen theme parks, tourist attractions and venues re-opening.
We should be looking at these countries and how their venues and shows are operating as hope and inspiration for our own. We are still many many months way from panto season.
Remember also most "Head Office" teams at the various pantomime companies are currently furloughed so releasing information and statements is not all that easy at present.
ALSO while we must always put safety first we have to also remember that cancelling pantomime will be the very last resort! This is because most venues rely on the income to stay open and also Pantomime Companies don't have income streams the rest of the year but still have year long overheads and staff wages. They too will want pantomime season to happen so they can cover these costs and stay operational for years to come.
I think September is a more likely time to properly decide whether pantomime will be cancelled or not, this is early enough to either cancel with minimum expenditure but also enough time to contract cast and crew and begin marketing.
Also Easter has been suggested, Easter holidays are only 2 weeks long meaning this could be not financially viable as it's hard to break even on a show with only two weeks of operation, plus most theatres will already have their spaces programmed for Easter. Large venues programme 18 months - 3 years in advance usually.
