I get all of that but this is also about the audience, ticket sales and their risk. At present I won’t purchase any tickets purely down to the fact of already having been bitten by a cancelled show and a loss (to me) of booking fees, which the producer (ENO) will not refund.
I’m mindful of risk of accepting vouchers because they could end up being worthless. Having said that, I have taken the risk of allowing two shows to change performance dates (back a whole year) as I believe the producers will survive.
A theatre in Scotland announced no return until 2021 yesterday. The Leicester Curve announced that no shows until 31 October.
To me it’s all about common sense. A lot of posts on this site have referred to ‘negativity’ and yet the posts contained ‘objectivity’, it seems that the two words are being confused.
I’d love the panto season to go ahead as much as anyone else but...
