Re: Let’s be realistic - not pessimistic!
As each week goes by without announcements I'm less optimistic - especially the Palladium who haven't even announced titles, dates or on-sale date. Based purely on realism. I really want to see a season happen, so I'm cautiously optimistic - however this all depends on complete lifting of social distancing for theatres I think (I could be wrong though), just can't see it being financially viable and it's probably cheaper to remain closed that run a full-scale show with significantly reduced capacity. I'm personally surprised by the silence of the major producers to be fair and I'm fully prepared to get the wrath of people on here, but I think they should make some kind of statement. There are a lot of rumors spreading and it's genuinely causing anxiety among some performers, musicians, crew etc who rely on the season. Then you have tickets still on sale and potential audience members unsure whether to pay money on tickets not knowing whether there will be a show. I'm not suggesting that producers know 100% what will happen yet, and maybe they are still deliberating on what to do, but even if they state that they are still planning for the season, but waiting on a final decision nearer the time - it allows for this vague optimism - I can only see benefits of them being transparent, not least the fact it shows they are aware of the many other people involved in this. As a disclaimer, I don't expect 100% guarantees. I just thought we would have heard something by now from them.
