As for Queen Mary’s crown, I thought we already knew officially that it would be trimmed down to four arches instead of eight.
(which leaves quite a bit of diamonds left over for a new tiara!)
Yes, it’s going to be Cullinans III, IV and V
Royal Family Website If you look at the large image of the crown, you can see how the eight sections of arch’s are attached to the circlet base. I wonder if the eight scrolls that the monde sits on will be reduced to four or if the eight will be kept. They look like that were supposed to be a permanent feature. Also I just noticed this from the court circular of March 23 2023 The King and The Queen Consort, Patron, this afternoon visited the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey, and were received by the Chief Executive of Historic Royal Palaces (Mr. John Barnes) and the Chairman of the Royal School of Needlework (Ms. P. Wood). Their Majesties, escorted by Dr. Susan Kay-Williams (Chief Executive, Royal School of Needlework), viewed the progress of work being undertaken for the Coronation by embroiderers and other members of Royal School of Needlework staff, before viewing displays of objects from past Coronations from the Royal School of Needlework Archive and Collection and objects from the Historic Royal Palaces Collection. I wonder what they were working on
