These are about the Hanoverian Pearls and the controversy surrounding them.
From "The Independent" (Honolulu, Hawaii) dated November 27, 1900:
From "The Herald" (Los Angeles, CA) dated January 9, 1898: From "The San Francisco Call" (CA) dated June 8, 1913: [Only a portion of this article I scanned for this purpose]
Only another portion of this other article is the one I scanned for this purpose. Coming from "The Evening Times" (Washington, D.C.) dated June 26, 1897:
Please note the part where it says "the most magnificent collar of pearls in Europe, which, for the first twenty years of her reign, was worn by Queen Victoria."
a) Is there a picture of Queen Victoria wearing this Hanoverian pearl necklace before she had to fork it over to her uncle?
b) Have any descendant of the Duke and Duchess of Cumberland wear this pearl necklace in pictures since 1858 when the court ordered Queen Victoria to give these Hanoverian jewels to King George of Hanover?
--Previous Message-- : Can anyone enlighten me as to whether these : are the same double strand of pearls? I : think not, but I am not 100% sure. : : Also, which (if either) are the Hanoverian : Pearls. : : Are there any other pearls that HM has worn : highlighting the clasp - maybe QV's pearls : with the ruby clasp?? : : As always, thanks so much for your input. : : : : : : : Cheers! : Bryce :
