Thank you, Baxter, that sounds very convincing!
Franck, thank you for the clue. Here are the Getty pictures of the return dinner aboard HMS Britannia in Kuwait during the Queen's tour of Middle-East in 1979 (Getty erroneously locates these pics in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates):
But these pictures are too small to confirm with certainty that this necklace is the "Kuwaiti necklace" identified by Baxter. The necklace could also be Queen Anne and Queen Caroline's necklaces.
--Previous Message-- : Dear Baxter, : : We have a photo of Queen Elizabeth II : wearing a two pearl strands pearls necklace : with a diamond clasp during the golf tour in : 1979. The photo was taken in the Britania : (You can see the photo in Getty images). She : is wearing a orange dress with the Vladimir : pearl and diamond tiara. : : Perhaps, it is the pearl necklace that was : given to her during the tour ! : : Best regards, : : Franck : : --Previous Message-- : There seems to be a dark or missing pearl on : the right in one of these strands. : : I wonder how the Queen chooses among all : these similar pearls! I can picture a row : of pearls hanging on hooks where she can : reach for them, but of course they would : actually be stored in their individual : boxes. Pearls need to be worn, so perhaps : she has some sort of routine for them. : : :
