I agree that the Tudor Rose brooch does not seem to match the others listed by Bryce. What about the new gold floral brooch that the Queen has worn a lot recently - opening the Games in Glasgow last week, at Ascot on day2 & in Paris at the British Embassy reception? That brooch could be the English symbolic floral contribution along with the thistle, daffodil & shamrock and it seems to have a lot in common with the thistle & daffodil designs. By the way there is a good close up of the triple thistle brooch on the cover of the August edition of Majesty

I didn't : even think of that... : : : : --Previous Message-- : Best I can tell, these brooches were first : seen starting in June 2012 (Shamrock), July : 2012 (Thistle and Rose) and May 2013 : (Daffodils) which leads me to believe they : were a Diamond Jubilee gift. : : I figured that perhaps HM received them at : her Dia Jub Monarch Luncheon - but I do not : think that there was an Omani representative : present. Therefore, HM probably received : them by envoy at some point in time. The : dates of the visit quoted by Mark seem to : far off. She no doubt received some other : wonderful items at those visits! : : Cheers! : Bryce : : --Previous Message-- : I think you may be on to something here, : Bryce : - to me, the first three seem to have a lot : in common both stylistically and also having : similar workmanship. The rose brooch has : its stones set in a similar way to the other : three, but the style is a bit of a : departure... Do you happen to have any : information about when these brooches began : to appear? It might shed more light on the : case if they started being worn all around : the same time. The Queen visited Oman first : in February and March of 1979, and then : again in October of 2010, and the Sultan : visited the UK in March of 1982 - does the : timing give anyone any ideas? : : --Previous Message-- : These are the 4 brooches that I suspect were : presented to The Queen by the Sultan of Oman : : Scotland : : : : : Wales : : : : Northern Ireland : : : : : England : : : : : What do you think ? : : Cheers! : Bryce : : --Previous Message-- : I have read on the "from Her Majesty's : Jewel Vault" site that some information : has come to light regarding he provenance of : the Three Thistle brooch worn most recently : by HM at the Commonwealth games.
