    Hi Helen, I had to look up some images to find the brooch you meant, and there are some definite stylistic similarities. However the workmanship seems different to my eye (dare I say slightly better quality than the possible gifts?) and, unfortunately, I don't think these flowers are roses, although I admit I am terrible at identifying flowers...
