Thank you for your thorough explanation and comprehensive classification. I will save it, it will help me to sort out all these similar-looking diamond rivières...
Regarding the diamond rivières coming from the Queen Mother, I wonder if the necklace you call the ‘Duchess of York rivière’ (the one worn with the Cartier Halo Tiara, picture B on Nellie’s panel) could be the same worn by the young Queen Elizabeth II, as its diamond collets look smaller than the ones worn on the other pictures of the Queen Mother. But that’s just speculation from me, as I have nothing to prove it without doubt. And I may be tricked by the picture’s blurriness.
I do not know if QEQM wore the Duchess of Teck’s rivière after Queen Mary bequeathed it to her in 1953. It is probably even more difficult to identify it with certainty on pictures since this 46-brilliant rivière includes 10 detachable collets (H. Roberts, The Queen’s Diamonds, page 126, footnote nr. 6), so the necklace can be reduced to 36 collets (Roberts mentions it was photographed with 36 collets in Queen Mary’s Jewels Inventory).
Regarding the diamond rivières worn by Queen Elizabeth II, thank you for distinguishing Queen Alexandra’s Collet Necklace (a- in your classification) and the other collet necklace (b-). I initially thought they were the same necklace, but you are right when noticing they have a different length (Queen Alexandra’s Collet Necklace is closer to the neck). And if Queen Alexandra’s Collet Necklace had been worn by the Queen in Wales, New-Zealand and the UAE, I suspect that Hugh Roberts would have added one or two pictures in his book. I would add that Queen Alexandra’s collets are almost of equal size, whereas the collets in the other necklace looks (slightly) graduated.
Queen Alexandra’s Collet Necklace (from Roberts’ The Queen’s Diamonds):
The other collet necklace, worn in the United Arab Emirates (cropped from a larger HQ picture, posted probably by Tamara on this board):
We can notice that the frontal collet of this necklace has a square shape, which we can spot too on the picture of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance in 2012 (b-4° in your classification).
I have tried to enlarge the picture of the young Queen Elizabeth II. But as you can see, the picture remains too blurry to draw a definitive conclusion.
