I don't think it is crashing bore. For me the idea that just after breakfast you have to hose yourself into a gown and wear Jewels for an event around Noon is weird. Jewels are made to unfold their splendour in candlelight. No matter the faceting, size and clarity, even the purest diamond has no chance to break, refract and reflect light properly in broad daylight. The State Opening of Parliament in the UK is a wonderful event, at the same time it is also very weird that the Lords and Ladies are in their robes, that here and there you can spot Peeresses or aristocrat ladies in Jewels but the rest is in fairly common daily suit, not even in jaquet (morning coat). I can live with the way it is done in 1948, 198O and will happen in 2013. Let us not exaggerate: all other Investiture Ceremonies (Denmark, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Monaco) were pretty sober as well. Even the Vatican or in Japan you will not see the glanz und gloria of diamonds in broad daylight.
