Alex - your refer to the "ultimate ownership test" so that now I see why our ideas do not match perfectly.
This also helps me understand why people keep coming back to the "ownership" thing. Don't get me wrong. I love the topic, as you might have guessed. But now I think I understand why it keeps cropping up.
It seems that many people feel that every tangible object on earth must belong to a human being. That is not true, in my view.
Belonging also applies where an object does not have to be "owned" by anyone.
I have defined terms like "the crown" "the State" "the nation" and explained how certain objects belong to one of those.
I have no difficulty with things belonging somewhere that is not a human being.
Currently, so much royal stuff belongs here and there and that is enough. The system works.
