Okay, but the unique situation is that guests of the State of the Netherlands actually sit at tables, eat from fantastic tableware, are surrounded by artworks and confronted with stunning jewels which are all private properties of a family, for various reasons parked into legal foundations.
In Denmark it seems to work well, but in Belgium King Leopold II gave an immense donation to the State (the Donation Royale) but there is a constant fight with the State about the upkeep of royal residences (many are in dire need of restoration), about the use of furniture and artworks (Prince Philippe had to be summoned publicly to return ameublement he used) and still leads to strange scandals like Prince Laurent crawling in all directions to get his house and inventory complete.
Since 1890 (Princess Wilhelmina becomes Queen) and 1963 (the establishment of various Foundations) we have seen 124 years of continuous use of mainly the same and still intact heritage of centuries of Orange-Nassaus. I hope it will remain that way. I think it will because after the death of both parents in 2004, suddenly various foundations were formed (the Lys Fund for the De Bourbon de Parmes, the Daffodil Trust for Princess Christina) and I think the four sisters have arranged all well and in good harmony. Beatrix Regina Perfectissima in my mind, that means she has taken care of the House's interests. No doubt.
