Thank you Nellie for all this research. I still think that we need to know who or what the individual authors are referencing. Only by checking footnotes etc can we determine if subsequent authors have themselves checked Cartier's archives or simply followed and repeated earlier authors. I am not suggesting that the first author is incorrect, but it would be good to know if others have done independent research. Otherwise, I think we would have to acknowledge that Queen Alexandra had 2 colliers resille. Then, we also have the Queen Alexandra 1901 Cartier Indian necklace - for which I have never seen an image.
