Edited only to fix the pic. Edit 2: In the caption to the bottom pic, "assembled" might have been a better word to use than "made".This might explain the styles. The Durbar emeralds were a mix of gift emeralds from India and the Cambridge emeralds. Here is a snippet or two about the event from - Gere, C and Culme, J with Summers, W 1993 Garrard - The Crown Jewellers for 150 Years, London: Quartet Books Crown Jeweller Henry Bell travelled with the royal party and in charge of a safe containing jewels, Orders and the Crown. "…his expert help was needed to shorten the emerald and diamond necklace that had been presented to the Queen by the Ladies of India and to reset a stone in the King's Garter Star, …" " 'The Durbar yesterday was the most wonderful & beautiful sight I have ever seen & one I shall remember all my life,' the King wrote to Queen Alexandra. 'We wore our robes and I the new crown made for the occasion. May had her best tiara on.' " "…she decided to have a new emerald and diamond diadem made to go with the parure of emeralds inherited from her mother the Duchess of Teck." "…Queen Mary wore her new necklace and brooch."
