Thank you - I have to stress that I wasn't overly impressed with the remainder of Janowski's cycle, but do think he is special in the Eighth, demonstrating true mastery of transitions and finding a wealth of colour and detail through virtue of the lighter toned Suisse Romande.
I have long advocated the Tintner cycle as being hugely useful for including all those little known (if somewhat more lengthy) editions. However, I think once Schaller has finished his own cycle, this will be the ace that trumps the Naxos cycle and hope it will be available at an advantageous price-point. I understand that my MWI colleague Ralph Moore is a very big admirer of Schaller in Bruckner and that the Eighth is his favourite symphony of all, so he too will no doubt be looking forward to Schaller's eventual recording of the standard edition of the Eighth as well!
Best,
lee
