I suspect you may be correct Nellie. Initially, I thought that the spikes looked further apart than in Q Mary's version of the tiara but assumed the wider gaps were caused because the jewel was worn as a necklace. Yet, it is clear in Joye's photo that the jewel sits well back on HM's shoulders and so extra length is called for. Another factor influencing my thinking is that Roberts' photo of the Queen Adelaide jewel shows it as a necklace which suggests it has not been remounted as a tiara. If only we could see the area where the clasp is - then the matter would be beyond dispute. Has anyone ever seen QEQM wearing both the QA and the QM jewels together?
