I know that the following is a very crude estimate, but since none of the photos I have seen so far have sufficient detail to show the number of diamonds in the central spire, I am trying to gauge by the number of bars. (I realise this does not take into account differences in spacing or size of diamonds) Roberts, page 28 says that the Queen Adelaide fringe has 60 bars. On page 188 he says the Queen Mary fringe has 47. On page 280 he says that QEII's wedding gift fringe necklace has 56 bars. In the photo he has on the next page, that fringe necklace sits higher against QEII's neck than the fringe is on QEQM, which suggests to me that the Queen Mother is wearing a longer fringe such as the Queen Adelaide fringe.
