MAny thanks LittleMo. I knew the pearl ring was worn before widowhood. I always wondered why the change. To abandon ones engagement ring is strange.
--Previous Message-- : I looked on Getty and found this portrait of : the then Queen Elizabeth clearly wearing the : pearl ring. It was taken in 1946. So she did : wear it before she became a widow. Maybe her : husband gave her this ring too. And maybe : she never really liked her engagement ring? : : (Personally I find it a bit odd, but each to : her own) : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : Perhaps pearls for mourning? : : I wonder what happened to the sapphire : though? : : --Previous Message-- : : My photo of Queen Mother's pearl ring. : What I was attempting to do was find the : earliest photo of QEQM wearing her pearl : ring. I have long wondered WHY she would : stop wearing her engagement ring and wear : the pearl instead. : : : : : : : --Previous Message-- : Interestingly it seems quite similar in : concept to the Diana/Duchess of Cambridge : sapphire : : --Previous Message-- : : That's a great shot.
