She arrived home from from Canada, where she was visiting. QV sent a telegram en clair "Tell my granddaughter to come home to me".
Her autobiography is silent on whether she returned to Germany after her return to England, but it would seem unlikely. Her "serious" jewelry likely would not have travelled with her to Canada, and more than likely would have been left in Germany.
