Let's say Queen Mary had lived for another couple of years, what would have the Queen been wearing during these years? QEQM wore the ruby parure and the fringe tiara, so the Queen's choice wouldn't have been that great. --Previous Message-- : : So many of the great pieces in the Queen's : private collection were of course bequests : from Queen Mary, whose death unfortunately : closely coincided with the coronation. : : It was only a few months after her : grandmother's passing that the Queen began : to wear her lovely tiaras. : : Here the Queen wears the Vladimir tiara at : the Royal Film Performance in October 1953. : (This is also the only time I recall seeing : the pearl version being worn with a necklace : of colored stones.) : : : : For the long Commonwealth tour which began : the following month, two more of Queen : Mary's tiaras were worn - the lover's knot : and the kokoshnik. : : : : :
