Unlike her grandmother, HM is not fond of grand jewels. She wears them because she knows it is expected of a Queen, not because of personal preference. She received both the Girls of Great Britain and the bandeau as wedding gifts. She likely chose not to pair them when a young woman probably because she felt it made it look "too grand". Also, it has been said that this tiara is well liked because of its light weight. Adding the bandeau would have added to the weight. --Previous Message-- : Isn't it odd that HM wore the Girls of GB : tiara while Queen Mary was alive, yet : supposedly was unaware that the bandeau went : with it?
