Indeed, disputed. Not only because there are more claimants on the throne of France (although I consider myself an Orléanist). In my eyes the real Dauphin is François d'Orléans, Comte de Clermont, the eldest son of Henri d'Orléans, Comte de Paris. Because Prince François is mentally handicapped, his younger brother Prince Jean, Duc de Vendôme was appointed as Régent du Dauphin. In 2006 Prince Henri decided to bypass his eldest son and named Prince Jean as Dauphin de France. I found that a discutable move. In my eyes both Princes should have respected the birthright of Prince François. This was an unneccessary move in my eyes, so I refuse to address Prince Jean and Princess Philomena (I hold both in high esteem anyway) as the Dauphin and the Dauphine.
