Yet, The Comte de Clermont is the eldest son! He would not have been the first Dauphin in history with limited mental abilities. I entirely agree with Henri M that this by-passing of the eldest son in favour of the second-born was not correct at all and it really doesn't gives the claims of the Orléans more credit in behaving so. It would have done no harm to leave the eldest son as Dauphin and the second as Régent de Dauphin, this would have been the correct way to handle this (considering the political situation in France actually theoretical) problem.
But to return to the Board's actual topic: It's phantastic to know, that The Duchess of Montpensier's sapphire tiara and earrings are still in the possession of the family and haven't been sold to gain funds for living .
