I cannot imagine that in our country at such an event all ladies would wear tiaras. In the days of King Willem II and Willem III this was the case though. And even at Wilhelmina's 1898 Investiture the ohter ladies present (royal-guests, CD and court) were bejeweled. Those were different times though. Holland has always toned down. In Beatrix 1966 wedding all ladies wore floorlong dresses but in 2002 when Alexander got married it all was toned down to afternoon dress. At the baptism of Beatrix in 1938 the Golden coach was used and Juliana even wore decorations and a long dress. When in 1967 Alexander was christened no Gold Coach was used, and Beatrix wore an afternoon dress, Claus still wore morningdress (jaquet) and Bernhard even uniform. But in 2004 when Amalia was baptized, Alexander did not wear morningdress but just a dark costume and uniforms were nowhere around. So you see that everything changes in The Netherlands towards modernity. Mourning ladies also wore veils here in the past. In 1934 at Emma's funeral the black veils were still in use for Wilhelmina, Juliana and ladies of the court. Also at Hendrik's funeral the same year there were Mourningveils (all be it white ones). In 1962 when Wilhelmina was interred no veils were worn although Juliana still wore one at King Constantijn-of-Greece' funeral. In Denmark and even in Sweden we still see (some sort of) veils being worn at funerals. All this shows that in Holland through the decades there has never been a restoration of old customs. There will not be any tiaras at the 2013 Inauguration, I am sure. Maybe Maxima will wear one but if so she'll be the only one. I am even very unsure if the royal guests will still wear long dress like they did in 1980. Following the changing of the times I think the lady-guests will most probarbly wear daytime knee-long dress and no decorations. Maybe that Maxima will be the only one to wear a long dress, like Grandduchess Maria-Theresa did in Luxembourg for her husbands investiture. She was the only one to wear long dress (no tiara for her either) and an order. The other people present were just wearing plain clothes. Beatrix who was a guest at that occasion was the only one present to wear a hat actualy...
