Another portrait in the Royal Collection - but no image Archived Message

As I have been trawling through the Royal Collection, I have found some interesting photos of miniatures and paintings. The item which currently interests me the most is one where there is no image available. In the Royal Collection it has the catalogue number RCIN 818033. The text says it is an engraving (after Sir William Ross - creator of Arthur's first image - a miniature on ivory). The engraving was done circa 1841. The description of the Duchess shows she was wearing a different costume from the one in the initial Ross miniature. The intriguing part is that it says she is wearing a choker. Oh for an image, so we could see if it is the Kent amethyst necklace, as what Arthur found in the baptism portrait could be described as a choker. I am hoping that someone has additional information or images which might have been published in books or news media. --Previous Message-- : As I was hunting on the Royal Collection site, : I noticed that Victoria, Duchess of Kent, : was wearing two stars in her hair in one of : her portraits. : Could these be from the amethyst necklace? : : http://www.royalcollection.org.uk/collection/604851/victoria-duchess-of-kent : : --Previous Message-- : I do not think there is much artistic : licence : in this painting. Other jewels depicted on : this painting (Queen Victoria's Diamond : Diadem, Turkish diamond necklace, Koh-I-Noor : Brooch and Bar Brooch, the Duchess of : Cambridge Pearl Lovers Knot Tiara...) are : painted in very accurate details and look : faithful to the real jewels. : : And the Royal Collection gives this : information in their description of the : painting: John Philip, " the Scottish : artist, described by Queen Victoria as ‘our : greatest painter’, made a preparatory sketch : during the ceremony, and perfected the most : important portraits at individual sittings : later ". So we can conclude that there : is very little artistic licence here. : : : --Previous Message-- : I think it is the amethyst necklace and, : although the duchess may have had plump : shoulders, the necklace does indeed look too : short to contain the elements similar to the : brooch. The colour of the stones in the : painting suggests HRH is wearing amethysts. : Another factor which I think supports the : idea that this is the amethyst necklace is : that the bottom of the earrings are visible : and resemble those worn by QEII. Perhaps it : is due to artistic licence but there appear : to be wider spaces between the elements, but : in a painting where a person is not one of : the major figures in a composition, I don't : think that has any significance. : What a tremendous find Arthur. I think you : have solved the mystery. Congratulations. : Now we have to decide whether the brooch : worn by the Duchess of Kent in the painting : Barbara D posted is part of the demi-parure. : : --Previous Message-- : : Merci bien, Arthur! If it is indeed the : amethyst necklace - and I think it is - it : seems way too short to include the hexagonal : stones! : : : : : : : : :
