In looking at the various images, I have a feeling that the overtones I can see are opalescent, but they could equally be the artist's way of suggesting the orient of pearls.
I don't think I could judge that without being able to view the actual painting, which obviously I am not in a position to do.
I find it difficult to judge colours and details on computers - and I admit that my computer and its monitor is definitely not state of the art, which hinders things.
I am not dismissing Laura's suggestion regarding this tiara. I am delighted to see there is an alternative point of view, and one which is based on comments Queen Victoria made in her diary.
We now have 2 items to track down/verify - an almost unprecedented occurrence in the annals of discussions of Queen Victoria's jewels.
