The tiara with the sapphire centre worn by Queen Mary and later loaned to Princess Margaret actually never belonged to Marie Feodorevna. The Empress did not have any tiara's among the gems with her in Kiev when she fled south during the revolution. --Previous Message-- : : : --Previous Message-- : I am 100% convinced that the tiara worn by : Sophie of Wessex at the prewedding gala of : Luxembourg and the tiara worn by the Queen : in 1971 are one and the same. : We just have to open our eyes, absolutely : matches in every single detail, from the : shape itself to the frame. : I support the theory that this piece just : stayed for decades in the vaults, after all : we all know it happened before. : The Queen herself mentioned that she had : forgotten for many years that Granny's tiara : had a separate diamond base! : Perhaps when they were searching in the : vaults for the Halo tiara (also not seen : since early 1970's) for Catherine of : Cambridge they also : "redescovered" this one . : Let's hope the next one they redescover for : our delight is Maria Feodorovna's diamond : and center saphire tiara! : ... and there is a certain Duchess who : already has a nice sapphire ring to go with : the sapphire bandeau :
