Which would mean the heart shaped jewel must be detached, turned around and attached again, otherwise it would have appeared upside down.
Still a possibility, but I think on the photo Torkel posted the angle of the pearl-chain suggests that the chain comes from above the heart shaped amethyst, continues behind the jewel and reappears at the bottom. The angles are too acute for two separate loops* horizontally attached to the heart... oh dear, with descriptions like that I'm hopelessly lost in my limited command of a foreign language
* two separate closed loops, that is. It's possible of course that the two loose ends of each loop were properly attached to the sides of the heart shaped jewel, but the way the DoC wore it suggests otherwise, IMO.
