Thanks Jos. I have enjoyed starting to search for Massin and simply wanted to share a bit about his career with other posters here.
From Bury I have formed the impression that Massin was inventive and ground breaking in his design goals.
Perhaps he was a sharer and happy to contribute to extending understanding of the jewellery craft. I also learned that platinum was used much earlier than I had known before.
Maybe quite beside the point, but I keep thinking Russian when I see the grand sapphire tiara, and Erik (I think) did refer to the present composition being more kokoshnik shape. And there is an "Egyptian" design in Bury that has overtones of the tiara.
