Several factors are playing a role: - In Holland the name of Massin is attached to Mellerio. This basically has to do with a lack of information regarding Massin and his work. He worked for several jewellery houses and this week I bumped into a reference where it said Cartier and Massin were big competitors back then. - At some point people assumed the sapphire jewels were all Mellerio. This has to do with the outrageous secrecy so far of the Dutch Royal Family with regard to their jewels: it's hard to get good information. - We like to call the jewels Mellerio, because it is a prestigous house. - Dutch experts kept calling it Mellerio, despite the availability of Brus' book (this baffles me. I checked this week: I've never written Mellerio with regard to these jewels)
