Good question! I also find this very odd. Perhaps because they were now "the" Court Jeweller they thought they could keep it on record... or perhaps it was just plain negligence. If the Dutch Court doesn't even seem to know that one of the most important pieces in the jewel collection doesn't come from Mellerio, nothing would suprise me at this point. --Previous Message-- : What I don't understand: the Van Kempen : company altered/restored the tiara in 1928. : Therefore they used the original design.
