And do not forget the press release by the Royal House (the Government Information Service to be precise) on 24 April 2004 about the wedding tiara of Princess Mabel which was said to have been created from diamonds of the Mellerio sapphire tiara. It still puzzles me what the information was based on.
Surprisingly enough we now know that Mabel's wedding tiara was a Mellerio creation. Perhaps that has caused the confusion.
--Previous Message-- : Several factors are playing a role: : - In Holland the name of Massin is attached : to Mellerio. This basically has to do with a : lack of information regarding Massin and his : work. He worked for several jewellery houses : and this week I bumped into a reference : where it said Cartier and Massin were big : competitors back then. : - At some point people assumed the sapphire : jewels were all Mellerio. This has to do : with the outrageous secrecy so far of the : Dutch Royal Family with regard to their : jewels: it's hard to get good information. : - We like to call the jewels Mellerio, : because it is a prestigous house. : - Dutch experts kept calling it Mellerio, : despite the availability of Brus' book (this : baffles me. I checked this week: I've never : written Mellerio with regard to these : jewels) :
